Question: I decided to contact you because I read on your website that you work in neuroscience field. I worked for 1 year in a lab with animals, I have some experience with behavioral tests and molecular biology.
I would like to know if you have some PhD position available and if you can send me some articles eventually just to read more about your project.
I will send you CV, motivation letter and 2 references ( from my professor and from my manager in GSK London where I had internship for 7 months) and if you want the abstract of my thesis.
Many thanks for your time, looking forward to hearing from you

The answer of Vice-Rector of Academic Affairs Marina Lavrikova: If you are now a postgraduate student in some university you can come for tuition-free internship or non-degree studies (on basis of an individual study plan) provided you receive an assignment letter issued by the Russian Federation government or are nominated within an agreement between SPbU and one of its partners. The list of SPbU partner universities can be found on the official SPbU website.

If there is no agreement between SPbU and the university you’re studying at you can be accepted to SPbU on contractual (fee-paying) basis only. In this case you can study in SPbU for either 1 semester (01.09.2013-31.01.2014) or 1-2 months as an intern depending on the number of disciplines you want to study and time necessary for their completion. Language of instruction at the Biology field of studies is Russian.

To define which courses with which workload you can study within exchange studies in SPbU you should submit a recommendation letter signed by your university authorized person with a list of courses you’ve completed in your university and their workload.

To receive more detailed information about the application procedure for studies within the field of studies of your interest you can contact Acting Head of Academic Mobility department, Academic Affairs Office, Anna Porodina, e-mail: a.porodina@spbu.ru.

Regarding employment in SPbU at a research and educational position, according to the Labour Code of the Russian Federation signing a labour contract for a research and educational position in a higher education institute or a transfer into a research and educational position is possible only after a selection competition for the position.

Information about contests for teaching staff positions is published on the official SPbU website in the “Vacancies and Contests” section.
