Question: I am a French student at the universiy of Caen. I learn English, Russian and Chinese. I will finish my studies in Caen in September. Next year, I would like to learn Russian to improve my level and I would like to learn in Russia. I am wondering if I could be study in the University of St. Petersburg. Could you please tell me if it is possible?  I thank you for.

The answer of Vice-Rector of Academic Affairs Marina Lavrikova: The basis for students admission to SPbU non-degree studies (internship, individual plan studies) on tuition-free basis can be only an agreement between SPbU and the student’s home organization (University, scientific institution or other organization) or official assignment letter issued by the governmental authorities of the Russian Federation.

The list of SPbU partner universities can be found on SPbU official website in the International Affairs section.

At the same time you can be admitted to non-degree studies on fee-paying (contractual) basis to the field of studies of your interest. For more detailed information on the procedure of admission to non-degree studies in SPbU you can contact the Academic Mobility Department (acting Head of the Department is Anna Porodina, e-mail: a.porodina@spbu.ru, tel.: 8 (812)3287562).

Therefore, the person applying to SPbU non-degree studies either on budgetary (tuition-free) or contractual (fee-paying) basis should be a student of a foreign university. Those not being a student of a foreign university can’t be accepted to non-degree studies in SPbU.

Applicants not being students of foreign universities who want to improve their language level can be accepted for Russian language courses in the frame of additional educational programmes. Information on Russian language courses can be found here
