English Question: I'm a medical student at the faculty of Damascus.
My question is that I want to continue my post graduate studies and clinical residency here at your center. So I'd kindly ask you to inform me about the qualifications needed for getting a spot in a residency program.
The answer of Vice Rector of Academic Affairs Marina Lavrikova: According to clause 4, article 69 of the Federal law dated 29.12.2012 N 273-ФЗ "On Education in the Russian Federation" (version dated 25.11.2013), only applicants having a higher medical or pharmaceutical education can be accepted to residency programmes. Admission to the programme is possible after a competition on basis of the entrance exams conducted by the organization.
Rules of admission to residency programmes are published on SPbU official website in the "Admission to SPbU" section. Information about admission to residency programmes in 2014 will be published on the website not later than 01.02.2014.
List of entrance examinations and their programmes can be found on the website.
Thus, to be admitted to a residency programme in SPbU you must have a diploma of higher medical or pharmaceutical education recognized in Russia, successfully pass entrance exams and win a contest to the chosen programme.
Recognition of foreign education and/or qualification in Russia is provided by the Federal Agency of Supervision in the Sphere of Education and Science (Rosobrnadzor). Information on foreign education recognition can be found here.
At the same time, SPbU has been given right to provide recognition of foreign education for the purpose of completion the education in SPbU. Documents and regulations of recognition of foreign education in SPbU and other information on recognition will be published on SPbU official website.
