Question: My son is 11 class and 17 years old. We live and he study in Istanbul-TURKEY. My wife is Russian from St. Petersburg. My son also Russian Citizen. We want that he will educate in your university in Computer Engineering. How can he enter your university? He is Russian citizen also. He regitered to St. Petersburg. But he study in ıstanbul. So his Russian language is not fluently. Please inform us in this subject.
The answer of Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Ekaterina Babelyuk: As your son is the Russian Federation citizen he can apply to SPbU on the same terms as all Russian citizens, i.e. either basing on the results of the Unified State Exam on the entrance examinations subjects or, as a person having got the compulsory education in a foreign educational institution, on basis of the results of entrance exams offered by SPbU independently, both for budgetary and contractual (fee-paying) basis.
The application procedure at SPbU is determined by the Admission rules to the respective year. Admission rules at SPbU in the year 2013 will be published on the official SPbU website on the Admission Committee page not later than 01.02.2013.
Information on admission in 2012, including information on educational programmes on which SPbU conducted admission, list and forms of entrance examinations, minimal grade got by applicants enrolled in SPbU in 2012 can be found on the above mentioned webpage.
As your son resides permanently in Turkey, he also has a right to apply for a government scholarship for education at SPbU. The rules of conduction an open contest among foreign citizens and compatriots living abroad for the government scholarship for education at SPbU in 2012 are published on the official SPbU website on the Admission Committee webpage in the section “Admission of Foreign Citizens”. Rules of candidates’ selection for the government scholarship for education at SPbU in 2013 will be published on the above mentioned webpage not later than April 2013.
I would like to mention that language of instruction on main educational bachelor and specialist programmes is Russian. For those who want to improve their knowledge on entrance examinations subjects including Russian language, preparatory courses are organized in SPbU. As your son will receive the document on higher compulsory education in Turkey he will have to get over the procedure of education document equivalence establishment.
