Admission of foreign students

Question: My name is Lucy Featherstone and I am in my second year at Cambridge university studying Russian and German. I was hoping to study in Russia on my Year Abroad and have a particular interest in the history faculty of your institution. I will be arriving in Russia in the middle of February. Would I be able to enrol on a course at this time?

Answer of Vice-Rector of Academic Affairs Marina Lavrikova: Admission of foreign students as exchange ones (provided with tuition fee waiving and individual study plan) at SPbU is carried out in the frameworks of corresponding bilateral cooperation agreements between partner-universities or under assignment letter of the Russian Federation authorities.

List of SPbU partner-universities is available on our official webpage (section ‘International Affairs’).

Taking into account that at the moment there is no cooperation agreement in force between Saint-Petersburg University and Cambridge University we cannot accept and treat you as exchange student. However, you can apply to SPbU as fee-paying visiting student to study at the Faculty of History and take some interested courses.

For further detailed information on deadlines and application procedure please contact directly Academic Mobility Department, Academic Office of SPbU (contact person – acting head of the department, Anna Porodina, e-mail: a.porodina@spbu.ru, phone: 8(812)3287562).
