Admission of foreign citizens to postgraduate programme at SPbU

Question: Iam a pharm-D(doctor of pharmacy) student 5th professional year from Pakistan. i want to get admission in your university in MD doctor of medicine after pharm-D.I wanted to know that how could i get admission and what are the requirements for the admission in MD after Pharm-D? how long would it take to complete MD after Pharm-D?

The answer of Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Ekaterina Babelyuk: The candidates applying to the postgraduate programme at Saint-Petersburg University (SPbU)  shall have higher professional education confirmed by a Specialist or Master degree Diploma.

The period of full-time studies on the postgraduate programme is 3 years and 4 years as for part-time studies.

In accordance with the Licence for educational activity operation dated on 26.01.2012 № 2446 issued by the Federal Service for Supervision in the Sphere of Science and Education, SPbU does not instruct PhD programmes in the field of  “Pharmaceutic sciences” (14.04.00).

Foreign citizens are enrolled to Saint-Petersburg University (SPbU) postgraduate programme:

  1. on basis of international and intergovernmental agreements of the Russian Federation - in this case students are enrolled on basis of an official assignment letter for study at SPbU issued by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.
  2. on fee paying (contractual) basis.

To be enrolled to postgraduate programme at SPbU on a contractual basis foreign citizens take the following entrance examinations: major, philosophy and foreign language needed to fulfill PhD thesis.

To be enrolled to postgraduate programme at SPbU foreign citizens shall submit the following documents:

-  an application for admission to a postgraduate programme addressed to SPbU Rector;

-  a copy of the Diploma of higher professional education and its supplements; a notarized copy of translation of the Diploma and its supplements and a copy of a certificate of equivalence of the foreign Diploma to the Russian Federation Diploma of higher professional education;

-  foreign citizen application form;

-  2 photos 3*4 cm;

-  a list of published academic papers;

-  a certificate of qualifying examinations passed and certificate of legal validity of qualifying examinations passed abroad (if any).

-  a certificate of the termination of clinical internship or internship as for the persons applying to postgraduate programme in the field of "Medical Sciences".

Additionally it’s necessary to note that study on postgraduate programme at SPbU is carried out in Russian language. The foreign citizens having not the required level of Russian language can attend 1 year Russian language courses before admission to postgraduate programme.
