Exchange programme in SPbU for a student from Groningen University, the Netherlands

Дата создания

Question: I am a second year bachelor student of psychology at the Rijkuniversity of Groningen, the Netherlands.
Currently, I am looking at universities where to spend my semester abroad from January till June 2014.
When looking at the courses of the faculty of biology and soil science, I found the follwing six courses that interest me. However, was unable to find more precise information about each of them, as well as a guide to determine how exactly the awarded credits translate into working hours. It seems that depending on the course, one ECTS may be corresponding to a variable number of working hours. As the examination committee of my faculty here in Gronigen demands detailed information about the process of this translation, in order to accept my wish to study at your university, I would like to ask you for an explanation.
Lastly, it would be very kind of you to explain the "level" of the courses ("M").
My three questions above are related to the following courses:
1)International cooperation in the environmental protection (spring/M) – 54h/2 ECTS
2) Modern approaches to the assessment of the antropogenic load on the environment (Spring/M) – 84/1
3) Coastal Ocean Dynamics (Fall/M) – 36h/2 ECTS
4) Global climate change and permafrost degradation (Fall/M) – 95h/2ECTS
5) Introduction in management of risks (Fall/M) – 32h/1ECTS
6) Social ecology (Fall/M) – 51/2
Thank you very much for your help! I am very excited about the prospect of studying in St. Petersburg, and I am looking forward to hearing from you!

The answer of Vie-Rector of Academic Affairs Marina U. Lavrikova: Enrollment of foreign students to SPbU non-degree studies on the tuition-waived basis is possible if there is a valid agreement between SPbU and partner-University or an official assignment to education in SPbU issued by the authorities of the Russian Federation. At the moment there is a Memorandum of Understanding between SPbU and Groningen University, but a Protocol on student exchange that stipulates quotas, deadlines and financial conditions of exchange hasn’t been signed. Thereupon as of today your participation in SPbU exchange programme isn’t possible. For information on assignment to SPbU in the frame of an intergovernmental agreement you need to contact Netherlands public authorities responsible for education.

The abbreviation “M” means that the course takes place within a main educational Master’s programme.

At present SPbU uses the credit system for academic workload assessment. Bachelor student academic workload is 60 credits for an academic year. On the average 1 credit is given for 32-38 academic hours. As of today SPbU doesn’t have a scale of equivalence between academic hours and credits, academic workload assessment is conducted for each course separately.
