Question: Hello, dear Dmitry Vladimirovich! I am a second year student of faculty of journalism of St.Petersburg State University. I live the second year in a dorm No. 17 66, 5th line V.O., and almost all this time we have problems with a shower – there are no curtains, no cable on which them hang up. Besides, in the summer, in the middle of June, a female shower closed on repair (as promised, approximately for a month). However now, when all students returned to a dorm, it appeared that the shower is still closed and when it will open – nobody knows. As a result all students are compelled to wash in a man's shower, in which only! THREE curtains, and one time in two days (even days - man's, odd days - female). As you understand, it brings huge inconveniences, especially to us, girls.
Besides, the kitchen on the third floor where I live also is under repair. There are no working sink there is no light. Our wing of a corridor is also deprived of the washing room. As a result we with neighbors are remained without water at all. We should go to other end of a corridor to clean teeth, to wash hands or to gather some water. And it is very inconvenient to wash the dishes in usual sinks.
In four days of my stay in a dorm I never saw that someone did repair in kitchen, the washing room or in soul. Everything stays on the same place.
Tell when already, at last, we will be able to live normally in a dorm? When we will have good conditions to study (solving household problems, we have less time for studies)?
If the situation doesn't change soon, we will be compelled to address to the rector or in administration of St. Petersburg. Thanks in advance.
Answer of the director of St.Petersburg State University Campus Dmitry V. Mikhaylov: Unfortunately, repair of premises of dorms in sufficient volume wasn't carried out for many years. In 2011 - 2012 at the request of the rector large-scale inventory of rooms of dorms was carried out.
Representatives of the trade-union organization of employees of St.Petersburg State University and Student councils took part in this work. As a result of the carried-out inventory it became clear in what condition are rooms and what volume of repair work is needed. In 2012 the part of rooms was repaired (for more details see here), the plan of repair for 2013 in which the priority directions of repairs are defined also was developed. Now an overhaul on dorms on Halturin St., 15/1 and on Solidarnosti Ave., 7/1 is carried out. Besides in the current year about 250 emergency rooms and common areas were planned in repair.
According to the contract ОАЭ 204/13 which you can study having gathered a code 0372100003413000279 on an electronic platform " Сбербанк Аст " (www.sberbank-ast.ru), completion date of repair work shower and kitchens 25.08.2013г. Unfortunately, the contractor, having violated contractual obligations, didn't keep established periods, for what he will be responsible according to the Civil Code of the Russian Federation. Soon (to 18.09.13г. ) female shower and kitchen on the 3rd floor in a dorm No. 17 will be put in operation. Unfortunately, for the reasons independent of St.Petersburg State University, there was such situation. I apologize for the delivered temporary inconveniences.
