Will my SPbU diploma be recognised abroad?

I have heard that Russia and Belarus were excluded from the Bologna Process, and Russia’s science and higher education minister, Valery Falkov, supported this decision, adding that it helps to preserve all achievements and uniqueness of the Russian higher education system. But would not it lead to the situation when European educational organisations would no longer recognise diplomas of SPbU and other Russian universities?

The answer of Sergey Andryushin, Deputy Rector for International Affairs:

The Bologna process is one of the elements of European cultural integration to ensure convergence and unification of educational systems of European countries and some other participants of the Bologna Declaration on the European Higher Education Area (the Bologna Declaration) signed on June 19, 1999. This document does not regulate the procedure of recognition of foreign higher education qualifications in Europe.

Issues related to the recognition of foreign qualification documents are regulated by other intergovernmental agreements. An example of such multilateral agreement is the Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications concerning Higher Education in the European Region (signed in Lisbon on April 11, 1997), which is still in force in EU member countries, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Belarus and in many other countries (to date it has been ratified by 54 countries).

In view of the above, there are no grounds for concern
