Some inquiries to get inrolled in SPbSU

Question: I am 22 years old and I am Sudanese . I live in Saudi Arabia and I speak Arabic , English and a little French. I am considering geeting enrolled in your university. And I have some inquiries:
- Is it possible for me to study medicine at your university?
- If possible , what are the requirements in my situation?
- What authorities should I contact?
- And what are the deadlines for the admission procedure?

The answer of Head of Admission Committee Egor Yablokov: 

International applicants can be admitted to Saint-Petersburg State University both to places funded by the Russian Government (Scholarship of Russian Federation) and on a fee-paying (contractual) places.

I. To apply for places funded by the Russian Government applicant has to submit following documents:

1. application form for an educational program of the relevant level, stated by the Admission Committee (fill up at Personal Account);

2. a questionnaire filled out in block-letterswith a color photography;

3. copy of identity document;

4. copy of birth certificate (if there is one);

5. health certificate;

6. medical certificate on the absence of the HIV virus and AIDS;

7. educational certificate/diploma (or its notarized copy) with its academic transcript translated into the Russian language;

8. motivation letter;

9. essay (for Bachelor, Specialist, Master programs);

10.4 (four) photos 3х4 см.

Please, pay attention that all documents must be translated into the Russian language and notarized, and be legalised if required.

You can apply all documents at the Personal Account either in person or by post.

Deadline for application in 2014:  April 10 – June 15

II. To apply for fee-paying places applicant has to submit following documents:

1. application form for an educational program of the relevant level, stated by an Admission Committee (fill up at Personal Account);

2. educational certificate/diploma (or its notarized copy) and its transcript (in case it is provided by the legal system of a foreign state that issued the certificate/diploma);

3. copy of identity document;

4. 4 (four) photographs 3z4 sm.

Please, pay attention that educational certificate/diploma be translated into the Russian language and notarized, and be legalised if required.

You can apply all documents at the Personal Account either in person or by post.

Deadline for application in 2014:

  • March 01 - August 10: for applicants not requiring an entry visa
  • March 01 - July 10: for applicants requiring an entry visa

Periods for the admissions tests in 2014:

  • May 5 – 19;
  • June 16 – 30;
  • July 14 – 25;
  • August 04 – 15.

In most cases foreign applicants have to sit for an admission tests in person. Applicants are provided a dormitory for the period of application and admission tests.

Please, take into account that all Medical programs are taught in the Russian language. If you want to apply for Medical program, you have to take a preparatory course in the Russian language. Usually it lasts 10 months and upon completion students obtain a graduation certificate from the Philological department SPbU.
