Exchange student from Australia

Published Date:

Question: Hello. I am a student from the University of Sydney, Australia, looking at the possibility of doing an exchange to St Petersburg State University in the first semester of 2014. I have been learning Russian for a year now, and should be reasonably proficient by the time 2014 rolls around, but I was told to ask you about which courses might be offered in English. I am a Physics and Mathematics student at my home University, do you offer any of these courses in English Language? If not I'm sure I will be able to cope in Russian.
My University unfortunately does not have a partnership in place with your University, or any institution in Russia for that matter. Is it possible for this to work regardless? Thank you for your assistance!

The answer of Vice-Rector of Academic Affair Marina U. Lavrikova: Thank you for your interest to education in SPbU.
I inform you that enrollment of foreign students in SPbU non-degree studies (with an individual study\internship plan) on the tuition-waived basis is possible if there is a valid agreement between SPbU and the foreign University or an official assignment to education in SPbU issued by the governmental authorities of the Russian Federation. The list of SPbU partner universities can be found on the SPbU website.
In case there is no agreement between SPbU and your University your exchange period in SPbU on tuition-waived basis isn’t possible. However, in this case you can apply to non-degree studies in SPbU on contractual (tuition-paid) basis.
Language of instruction in SPbU is Russian. Information on studying the Russian language can be found here.
