Do I need to give entrance exam for preparatory course admission?

Thank you for your interest in St Petersburg University.

The University accepts documents from foreign citizens applying for the admission to the places on the government-funded places in compliance with Order No 1378 on November 3, 2020 “On Approving the Procedure of Selecting Foreign Citizens and Stateless Persons for Training within the Established by the Government of the Russian Federation Educational Quota for Training Foreign Citizens and Stateless Persons in the Russian Federation and Requirements Applied to Them”, as well as through the representative offices of the Federal Agency for the CIS Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo) in foreign states.

Applicants applying for admission to a fee-paying place will be considered by the university during the competitive selection process, and a decision will be made regarding their recommendation for enrollment.

To submit your documents, you are required to make a personal account at our website “Personal Account. Preparatory Course” and fill in a questionnaire and an application form, print and sign your application for admission.

To take part in admission you have to attach in your personal account:

  • your application for admission from Personal Account;
  • a copy of your identity document;
  • your educational credential and supplements thereto;
  • a document issued by a medical institution in the country of the applicant’s residence confirming the absence of medical contraindications for studying, including confirmations from a psychiatrist and narcologist.

St Petersburg University offers preparatory courses for international applicants to higher education institutions in the following fields of study:

  • natural sciences (mathematics, physics, chemistry);
  • engineering sciences (and technology) (mathematics, physics and informatics);
  • humanities (social science, history and literature);
  • economics (social science, history and mathematics);
  • medicine and biology (chemistry, biology and physics).

The decision on the possibility to recommend for enrolment to study on the fee-paying places will be made considering the provided sets of documents and taking into account the score average in general education disciplines correspondent to the respective main fields of study. The score average must be as little as 80 % from the highest possible.
