Dear Mr. Mikhail N. Kudilinskiy,

I found your name as a Vice Rector of Economic Development on the web site of the State University in Saint Petersburg.

Let me present,

My name is Lorenzo Prochilo; I am an Italian student in Czech Republic. I study economy and tourism in the Secondary School of Services in Tourism l.t.d. in Olomouc. I am on the last year of studying on this school and I would like, after the school leaving exam, to join to your University. I have a large knowledge of English, Czech, Italian, Spanish language and also I am on the fifth year of studying Russian language.

I appeal to You, with this message, because I would like to know more about how to join to the SPbSU. Witch kind of faculty can you offer to me and also witch kind of tests I have to pass? Do you have an English program too? Or just in Russian language?

I have already been in Saint Petersburg, this summer and the city fascinated me. It will be for me a great opportunity to find in the future a great job and also it will be a great opportunity to improve my knowledge of English but mostly of Russian language.

I am looking forward to see your answer and wish you a quite weekend.

Yours sincerely.

The answer of Vice-Rector of Academic Affairs Ekaterina Babelyuk:

After finishingSecondary School in Czech Republic you can apply to SPSU to the Bachelor program. Most Bachelorprograms in SPbU are delivered in Russian language. SPSU offer only one Bachelor program in English – International Management. Also in the area of your interests SPSU offer such Bachelor programs as Economy and Tourism, but they are delivered in Russian language. For studying at this programs you need Russian language no less than level B1 (TORFL-1).For learning Russian we can suggest preparatory course on the Russian language before the application. A preparation course in Russian for level B1 lasts 10 months. For studying Master program in SPSU you need no less then level B2. Upon completion of the course students obtain a graduation certificate from SPbU. As well, they can take a state examination “Test of Russian as Foreign Language” (TORFL) and obtain a certificate of a correspondent level which is needed to apply for studies at the SPbU. More detailed information about the foundation course and a full list of programs offered you can find here: http://russian4foreigners.spbu.ru.

International applicants can be admitted to SPbU both to places on a fee-paying (contractual) basis and to places funded by the Russian Government (Scholarship includes tuition fee). All information about admission to fee-paying (contractual) basis, such as Admission rules, lists and programs of admission tests, you can find at web-site of SPSU: http://abiturient.spbu.ru/index.php/priem/bakalavriat/perechen-programm-i-vstupitelnye-ispytaniya-4. As specified in the Governmental decree of Russian Federation (October, 8 2013 № 891 "On Fixing an Education Quota for Foreign Nationals and Stateless Citizens in the Russian Federation".), foreign citizens are provided an opportunity to take part in an Competition for state-funded educational places at Universities in Russian Federation, including SPbU (funded from the budget of Russian Federation). Information about order of admission will be published at web-site of SPSU: http://abiturient.spbu.ru/index.php/russkij/informatsiya-dlya-inostrannykh-grazhdan.
